The recently passed One Big Beautiful Bill Act expands Pell Grant eligibility to programs as short as eight weeks or 150 hours, addressing the long-standing preference for traditional degree pathways. These new Workforce Pell Grants not only broaden access but also ensure funding goes to programs that deliver strong economic outcomes. On average, workforce education increases annual earnings by about $2,160—or roughly 4%—though returns vary significantly by field, much like the differences seen among college majors.
